In 2016 Giuseppe Casarosa designed Set: a system of double-sided panels that can be positioned against the wall or free standing. In the latter case, they are used to temporarily or permanently separate residential spaces or large retail spaces. The panels are upholstered with fabric and mounted on ash wood frames with hinges connecting them together, making it possible to vary their appearance. In technical terms, Set is an item of furniture of variable geometries. The modules are available in two heights and two widths. They can be accessorised with clothes hangers, shelves and mirrors to add functionality and flexibility. The possibility of organising the panels into linear structures but also into complex and articulated geometries makes Set a genuinely multi-faceted product. At home it can be used to separate two areas, for example the dining room from the living room. Alternatively, it can be used to creatively cordon off the entrance, and with two or three panels it is possible to create little boudoirs in the bedroom. Large spaces have different requirements. Long linear panels can be used to indicate paths and more structured compositions are also possible, perhaps creating sequences of exclusive spaces for private gatherings or business meetings. One of the key features of the project is the use of fabric. The panels are padded with thin slabs of foam but it is through the choice of fabric that these accessories can be personalised and given an exclusive touch. The colour and texture of the materials enhance the expressiveness and communicative power of the product and the large surfaces of the panels lend themselves to high-impact colour solutions.
